Denise Schaefer honored by the Greater Houston Port Bureau

Odfjell USA's Denise Schaefer, Manager of Documentation and Regulatory Compliance, has been recognized as June 2026 Member of the Month by the Greater Houston Port Bureau for her engagement and positive contributions to the maritime industry network.

Through her active involvement and longstanding commitment to industry collaboration, Denise has built strong relationships across the sector and supported initiatives that benefit seafarers and the wider maritime community.

“This recognition highlights your continued support, leadership, and contributions to the maritime community. We truly appreciate your engagement and the positive impact you bring to our industry”

- Corrina Ott, Vice President of the Greater Houston Port Bureau

Throughout her years in the industry, Denise has contributed to initiatives that support both seafarers and the wider maritime community.

Her longstanding work as co-chair of Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee’s Certificate of Compliance (COC) working group brought about revisions to US law, allowing the US Coast Guard handle annual inspections based on performance-based criteria, allowing savings in time and cost for vessels with proven excellent safety record. Also, during COVID-19, she facilitated vaccinations to seafarers during the pandemic, helping support crew changes and vessel operations during a challenging period for the industry.

The Greater Houston Port Bureau is a leading maritime trade organization that brings together stakeholders from across the Houston shipping community. This well-deserved recognition is a testament to the positive impact Denise has made both within Odfjell and across the wider maritime community.
